National Symposium of Communication Science 2021, Build Collaboration and Muldisipliny Communication Science

The Department of Communication Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, Yogyakarta State University has just organized the National Symposium of Communication Science (NASCOM) online. The event raised the theme "Implementation of Communication Science Studies and Multidisciplinary Science in Building Indonesia". This activity consists of conference sessions and parallel sessions held online through the zoom meeting platform with keynote speaker of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, B.B.A., M.B.A. He invited all communities, especially to all NASCOM 2021 participants to stand shoulder to shoulder in supporting the rise of the tourism sector and creative economy through innovation, Adaptation, and collaboration.

This activity was opened directly by Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes., AIFO. As rector of Yogyakarta State University. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto committed to continue to build the talents possessed by Communication Science students and lecturers and tendik so as to present new champions. He also hopes that the symposium can continue to be carried out.

Secretary of the Department of Communication Sciences FIS UNY and Chairman of the Steering Committee NASCOM 2021, Benni Setiawan, mentioned that this activity is a series of the 7th milad of COMMUNICATION SCIENCE FIS UNY and the National Symposium of Communciation Science is the peak event of ilkom UNY dies natalis. The hope is that THE ILKOM UNY program can bring the good name of UNY on the national and global stage. NASCOM 2021 was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Yogyakarta State University, Dr. Suhadi Purwantara., M.Si, Lecturer in Communication Sciences, Yogyakarta State University, as well as delegates from various student organizations.

NASCOM 2021 consists of conference sessions and parallel sessions. At this conference session was attended by 330 participants from various universities in Indonesia. The NASCOM 2021 Conference Session presented Prof. Suranto Aw., M.Pd., M.Si. who is the Professor of Yogyakarta State University as the first panelist with the sub-theme "Evaluating the Communication Climate in Indonesia". Prof. Suranto explained, "The current communication climate is dominated by virtual technology and digital technology, so the communication process must inevitably also be designed to harness the power of information technology", he explained.

The second author who is a lecturer at the University of Indonesia, Dr. Inaya Rakhmani discussed the sub-theme "Communication and Development of Broadcasting World Disruption". From the material presented, Dr. Inaya hopes that we can be more literate and more empathetic when posting on social media, as well as training and implementing critical reasoning in increasingly free media spaces.

The next sub-theme is "Communication and Development of Digital Civilization" delivered by Prof. Dr. Hafied Cangara, M.Sc., Ph.D. Professor of Hasanuddin University as the third panelist. "Unlike previous industrial revolutions that moved linearly, Industrial 4.0 communication moved exponentially and moved in network mode so that information quickly spread," he explained. Prof. Hafied also explained that we must be able to adapt but do not rely on super-intelligent technology because it can amputate the basic human ability to think and communicate face-to-face.

After the conference session, the activity continues with a parallel session. In this session, participants who had participated in Call For Paper previously presented the results of their research to 150 participants who attended. After the parallel session ended, NASCOM 2021 activities were officially closed by the Chairman of the Department of Communication Sciences Dra. Pratiwi Wahyu Widiyarti, M.Si. Before closing the NASCOM 2021 activities, he thanked all parties involved and hoped that all participants could absorb the knowledge that had been conveyed in this activity.

The National Symposium of Communication Science is expected to be a collaborative forum between the study of Communication Science and multidisciplinary science to provide problem solving in Indonesia in accordance with the big themes raised.
